Profiles and Cores - Downloads and FAQs
What is a Core?
burst! is and has always really been a 2-part application. One part
is the GUI (contained in burst.exe), which is the graphical part of
burst you interact with to manage your transfers. The other part is
the "Core", or the "Download Core" (btdownloadheadless.exe). This
part of the application is responsible for connection to peers and
transferring files.
Thanks to the modular nature of burst! v3.x, cores are not only upgradable but multiple versions of the same core, as well as different versions of different cores, can all be used together without conflict. This makes sure you always have the best tool for the job.

What is a Profile?
Also new in version 3.x of burst!, "Transfer Profiles" or just
Profiles allow you to maintain several sets of predefined settings
grouped together for easy access. You can set things like the
download core, maximum upload rates, as well as specifying advanced
flags.

The "Open Profile Editor" button (highlighted in blue above) is used to manage your profiles. Clicking this button brings up the "Transfer Profile Editor" screen:

Use this screen to make any changes you want to the profile of your choice, but be sure to click "Apply" when you're done editing a profile.

How do I install a core?
1) Close down burst.
2) Download the appropriate Binary package from above, and unpack the archive to "C:\Program Files\burst\".
3) Start burst back up. If what you are installing is an updated verison of a core you already have, any transfers and profiles you had with the old core will automatically be resumed by the new one.
If you are installing a whole new core (such as the Hurricane core), you will need to use the Transfer Profile Editor (detailed above) to modify the profiles you normally use (such as "Normal Download"), selecting your new core from the "Select Download Core" drop-down:
